Don’t Forget the UV Coating: 4 Tips for Buying Floors for Your Boat

by | Sep 6, 2021 | Boat Accessories

Before you take your boat on the water, you’ll want to make sure that it’s properly outfitted from the bow to the stern. Here are just a few tips when you’re in the market for flooring!

1. Choose Your Material Type

Many types of nautical flooring are made with PE/EVA foam, but this isn’t your only option. You can also opt for wood, linoleum, vinyl and even canvas flooring. It all depends on your budget.

2. Determine Your Price Range

Speaking of budget, it’s important to hammer out the details of your buying power in advance. You don’t want to fall in love with flooring that’s outside of your price range! Figure out how much you have to spend on everything, including delivery, installation and insurance in addition to the flooring itself.

3. Think About UV Protection

The sun can damage your boat just as surely as the water, so make sure that the materials of your floors have adequate UVA/UVB protection. You might also look for other types of protection while you’re at it, including pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSA) to keep all layers firmly stuck in place.

4. Invest in Non-Skid Products

Non-skid products can be the difference between staying on the boat and being tossed overboard. Less dramatically, they’re also great for providing comfortable and convenient movement while you’re on the water. You won’t have to worry about spilling drinks or stumbling during a wave.

These are just a few tips for choosing a boat floor.
