The path to solar is not difficult to navigate. If you’d like to get started, just follow these steps.
Consider How Much Power You Need
There are two paths that you can take on the road to solar. The first path is the easiest path. You’ll only need to invest in a small solar panel system. A basic solar panel system will outset the power that you use from your local power grid. The second path is more costly, and there could be hurdles. It involves a complete solar overhaul. Solar will become your home’s primary power source, and you’ll no longer pull power from the power grid. However, you can only accomplish this if there are no regulations in your community.
Select a Place for the Solar Panels
If you own a home in the northern hemisphere, you’ll need to install your solar panels on the south side of your roof. This will allow the panels to absorb the most sunlight. If there is shade on your roof, you may need to trim some branches.
A solar panel system will also work on the east or west side of a roof in the northern hemisphere. However, if there is far less sunlight in these areas, additional panels will be needed.
If installing panels on your roof isn’t an option, you could invest in a ground-mounted solar system. This type of system is easier to set up, and it will give you more flexibility.
